Abstract

Failure of infant growth is a common phenomenon in developing countries, especially in Indonesia. Abnormal growth in infants can result in at least four out of a hundred infants born each year not being able to survive. Additionally, one out of three infants may experience low birth weight due to this abnormal growth. Exclusive breastfeeding is a key factor in a child's growth process. This study aims to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the growth of infants aged 6-24 months at the Kalidoni Palembang Community Health Center. This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study consisted of 81 individuals. Sampling in this study used nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling technique. The instrument in this study used an exclusive breastfeeding questionnaire. Data analysis used the chi-square statistical test. The results of this study found that there was a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and growth with a p-value of 0.000. Exclusive breastfeeding can affect the growth of infants aged 6-24 months, so the role of nurses is crucial in providing education about exclusive breastfeeding to pregnant women and lactating mothers.
