Abstract

Along with the times, the need for knowledge, technology and information is getting higher, so the criteria for human resources are getting higher. Through education we can create quality and resilient human resources, as well as have the skills to innovate and creativity. This study aims to determine how the influence of academic self-concept on career decision making in class X students at SMA Negeri I Banyuasin I. This study is a quantitative correlational research. This research is a correlational quantitative research with a research sample of 168 samples from 290 populations determined by simple random sampling technique. This data analysis technique uses simple linear regression. The results of data analysis show that the level of academic self-concept and career decision making of SMA Negeri I Banyuasin I students is in the moderate category with a percentage of 44% for academic self-concept and 35.7% career decision making. For the results of simple linear regression, a significant value of 0.000 <0.05 is obtained, which means that there is an influence of academic self-concept (X) on career decision making (Y) and the coefficient of determination (R square) of 0.404 or 40.4% is obtained, which means that academic self-concept affects career decision making by 40.4% or it can be said that the value of the influence of academic self-concept is in the moderate category. This means that the higher the academic self-concept of students at SMA Negeri I Banyuasin I, the higher the right career decision making. Conversely, the lower the student's self-concept, the lower the appropriate career decision making. Therefore, counseling teachers are expected to provide career guidance services to improve the quality of students' career decision making.
