Abstract

Quail is one of the most popular poultry commodities in Indonesia. Feed has an important role considering that the high and low cost of production is greatly influenced by the feed cost. Internal organs are one of the parameters used to assess the health and performance of livestock. KSI substitution in quail feed is one of the efforts to reduce feed costs and is expected not to reduce the level of health and performance of quail. This study aimd to evaluate the percentage of internal organs of quail (Corturnix-cortunix japonica) by giving a combination of cassava tubers and Indigofera leaf flour as a source of energy and protein in the diet. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 replicates, where each replicate consisted of 8 quails. The treatment given was a treatment ration that had been composed of corn, bran, concentrate, and a combination of cassava tubers and Indigofera zollingeriana (70%: 30%). The treatments in this study were P0 (control ration), P1 (control ration substituted with 10% KSI), P2 (control ration substituted with 20% KSI), P3 (control ration substituted with 30% KSI), and P4 (control ration substituted with 40% KSI). The average percentages of liver, heart and gizzard were 2.560%, 0.820% and 2.740%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the substitution of KSI up to 40% level in quail feed does not have a significant effect on the weight and percentage of internal organs in the form of liver, gizzard, heart, and intestines in quails. The provision of KSI in feed up to 40% level did not indicate any abnormalities in internal organs characterized by normal size and percentage of internal organs.
