Abstract
One of the altemative energy sources that could be a solution to replace petroleum in the future is coal briquette with energy content 6170-5900 kcal/kg. Coal briquettes have a fixed carbon around 38.55%, volatile matter ash 35.36%, 24%, and 20.84% Moisture so that the coal briquettes can be converted through the process of gasification. Gasification is a thermo-method of converting solid fuel into fuel gas (syngas) in a Container with a gasifier to supply gasification agent such as hot steam, air and more. In this type of research gasifier updraft gasifier used was simulated by Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and analytical studies. The purpose of this research is to observe the influence of the distribution of pressure, heat transfer, flow velocities, temperature distribution, fluid flow pattem that occurs in the gasifier. From the results of the analysis and discussion of the conclusion that can be drawn out of the gas outlet temperature in the gasifier of about 800°-900° K (527°-627°C), and the temperature must be above the maximum out of gas about 300°-400°C because there will be a temperature drop. Results of the simulation showed the temperature of combustion chamber on combustion temperature 0.1 mixture fraction in coal briquettes is around 1625° K ~ 1300°C. Based on simulations it is possible to make a metal casting fiimace using gas fuel briquettes coal gasification a non carbonization.
