Abstract
The research was conducted in Shade house, Department of Plant Pest and Diseases Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from May to September 2014. The objectives of the research was to revel the response of banana varieties to the transmission of Banana Bunchy Top Virus (BBTV) by its vector Pentalonia nigronervosa. The research was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design, with eight treatments and four replications. The treatment was banana varieties consisted of Pisang Lilin, Emas, Putri, Nangka, Ambon, Tanduk, Raja siam, and Kepok. Fifty aphids P. nigronervosa removed from infected banana were infested to each treated healthy banana. The results showed that the shortest incubation period was 26 days belonged to Lilin variety. The shortest appearance of Bunchy top symptom was 44 days after inoculation and was observed in Lilin variety. The most susceptible banana varieties to banana bunchy top virus was Lilin followed by Emas, Putri, and Nangka. The varieties showing less susceptible to the virus were Kepok and Raja Siam. Banana variety with diploid genotype (AA) were more susceptible compared to other varieties. Key words : Banana Varieties,
