Abstract

The purposed of this study was to know the effect of adding methionine in diet on egg quality of silver Arabian chicken phase production I. This research was done from June to July 2005 at Balai Pembibitan Ternak Unggul Sapi Dwiguna dan Ayam Sembawa. Thirty two weeks silver Arabian chicken were used in this research. A Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 4 replications was utilized. The treatments were P0 (basal diet + 0% methionine), P1 (basal diet + 0,075% methionine), P2 (basal diet + 0,15% methionine), P3 (basal diet + 0,225% methionine), and P4 (basal diet + 0,3% methionine). The research indicated that adding methionine in diet has no significant effect on egg weight, albumen’s height, Haugh Unit, and eggshell thickness. As a result it can be concluded that adding methionine to diet up to 0,3% or total ratio 0,46% can not increased yet egg quality.
