Abstract
The aims of this research were to study the EM-4 population growth and to know the optimum dose added every week into rearing media which gave the best influence on microbe population growth and water quality. This research has been conducted ffom July, 21st to August 18lh 2008, at Fishery Basic Laboratory Aquacultural Study Program, Faculty of Agricultural, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This research was conducted according to completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replication. The treatments tested consisted of Po (control without EM-4 addition), Pj (5 pl EM-4 l'1 week ''), P2 (10 pl EM-4 l'1 week "'), P3 (15 pl EM-4 l'1 week '*), and P4 (20 pl EM-4 l'1 week '1). The result of this current research showed that the application of EM-4 into rearing media of Maskoki Fish gave good influences on microbe production growth and water quality such as dissolved carbondioxyde, dissolved oxygen, ammomum and orthophosphate content. The treatment that gave best influence on microbe population and water quality is P3 treatment (15 pl EM-4 l'1 week -I).
