Abstract

The objective of the study was to know the ratio of sperma and physiological NaCl on sperm motility and hatching percentage of baung {Hemibagrus nemurus) and know the survival rate of baung {Hemibagrus nemurus) larvae until three days old. This research was done at Balai Benih Ikan (BBI) of Gandus subdistric, Palembang, South Sumatera Province in June until August 2010. This current research used completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replication with treatment code (P). The treatment of sperm ratio and physiological NaCl consisted of PO (without physiological NaCl), P1 (1:80), P2 (1:100), P3 (1:120), dan P4 (1:140). Parameters observed were sperm motility, hatching percentage, ability to survive of baung {Hemibagrus nemurus) larvae until three days old and water quality. The result of the current research showed that the highest sperm motilities score (score 3) and hatching percentage 78,33% at P4 (1:140), and the lowest sperm motilities score (score 1) and hatching percentage 38,33% at P0 (without physiological NaCl). The result of larvae survival rate 98,30% until 99,27% for all treatment. Water quality parameters on broodstock cultivation for temperature was (30°C), DO (6,8 mgL"1), pH (7,2) and NH3 (0,08-0,10 mgL'1), whereas larvae cultivation for temperature was (27°C), DO (7,02-7,49 mgL'1), pH (6,5), and NH3 (0,05-0,10 mgL'1). This water quality was still tolerance for growth and larvae rearing.
