Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaiuate the respond of pak choy (Brassica rapa var. chinensis) to nitrogen fertilizer several dosage. The research was carried on July 2005 to August 2005 in a experimental garden of Agriculture Fakulty of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. The experimental was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The nitrogen fertilizer dosages were 0 kg per hectare (No), 45 kg N per hectare or 244 mg urea per plant (Ni), 90 kg N per hectare or 489 mg urea per plant (N2), 135 kg N per hectare or 733 mg urea per plant (N3), 180 kg N per hectare or 978 mg urea per plant (N4). The result of the experimental showed that the different nitrogen dosages gave a highly significant effect on plant high and the leave number. More ever, the nitrogen treatment gave a significantly effect on leaf area and plant ffesh weight, but significant on leaves chlorophlly content, plant dry weight, fresh weight root, and dry weight root. 180 kg N per hectare or equal with 978 mg urea per plant (N4) gave the best respond on the growth and yield of pak choy. The pak choy production increasing due to increase of nitrogen fertilizer dosage. The pak choy palnt can absorb a high nitrogen dosage. It was showed in no this experiment that 180 kg N per hectare or 978 mg urea per plant produced the highest yield.
