Abstract

Stunting is a growth and development disorder experienced by children from malnutrition, recurrent infections, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation. Toddlers are defined as stunted if their height is more than 2 SD below the median Child Growth Standards. Health education is one of the actions that influences the knowledge of mothers with stunted toddlers about healthy eating patterns. This study aims to determine the effect of health education using stunting educational plate media on the knowledge of mothers with stunted toddlers about healthy eating patterns. This study used a pre-experimental research design, a one group pretest-posttest design with a sample size of 31 mothers with stunted toddlers taken by stratified sampling. The instrument in this study used a knowledge questionnaire which was used to measure the knowledge of the research respondents. Statistical analysis of the study using the Shapiro Wilk test obtained normally distributed values. The results of the paired t-test study obtained a p value of 0.000 (p <0.05). The results of the analysis of maternal knowledge obtained a mean value during the pretest of 15.19 and posttest of 19.52 and a standard deviation of 3.371 pretest and 2.862 posttest, so it can be concluded that this study shows that there is a significant influence on the level of knowledge of respondents after being given health education with stunting education plate media. The results of this study are expected to increase insight, knowledge, understanding of the knowledge of mothers with stunted toddlers about healthy eating patterns and for health workers, it is hoped that the stunting education plate will be an intervention option in providing health education about healthy eating patterns
