Abstract

Health risks due to non-ergonomic work postures are a concern in work environments, including in the industrial sector. PT. X, as an industrial company, has office and field workers who are at risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) due to non-ideal working postures. This study aims to describe work posture, identify the distribution of MSDs complaints, and assess MSDs risks among office and field workers at PT. X. This descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design involved 77 office and field workers at PT. X. Data collection was conducted using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire to assess MSDs complaints, along with direct observation of work posture using office ergonomics, Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (REBA), and the caution zone checklist. MSDs complaints among office workers were mostly reported in the upper neck, back, and waist areas. Meanwhile, field workers experienced higher complaints in the waist and back due to non-ergonomic work postures. Both office and field workers' postures presented MSDs risks. Implementing ergonomic work postures is essential to reduce MSDs risks, especially for office and field workers who frequently adopt awkward postures for extended periods. This study emphasizes the need for ergonomic interventions to create a healthier and safer work environment, particularly in industrial sectors involving high-risk activities.
