Abstract
This study aims to describe the mathematical problem solving ability of ninth grade students through the application of Project-based Learning. This research is a descriptive study with the research subjects being class IX A students at Menara Fitrah Indralaya IT Junior High School. Data were collected through written tests consisting of three problem solving problems which were then analyzed using Polya's stages. The results showed that the level of students' mathematical problem solving ability was in the moderate category, with an average score achieved of 71.814. A total of 29.4% of students were in the high ability category, 58.8%, were in the medium category, and 11.8% of students were in the low category. The indicator of understanding the problem has the highest average percentage, which is 97.06%. The indicator of looking back is the indicator that has the smallest average percentage of 21.57%.
