Abstract

Education is an activity carried out consciously to change human behavior through teaching. This study aims to develop a booklet-based learning media for the history of jidur music to improve local history in class X of SMA Meranti Pedamaran, and to improve students' understanding and interest in learning. Booklets are one of the printed media for delivering material in the form of interesting summaries and images, which can be used as a tool to understand History material, as well as to provide interest and pleasure in learning History. The media was developed through several stages starting with a needs analysis then designing visual media that is adjusted to the history material. The validity of the product developed is based on the results of validation carried out by several experts, namely media experts, material experts and learning design experts. The results of the media expert validation were 4.53 with a very valid category, material experts were 4.66 with a very valid category, and language expert validation was 3.75 with a valid category. The use of booklet- based learning media can be seen from the increase in student learning outcomes by 51.21%. The N-gain reaching 0.79 also shows results that are included in the high category. From the processed data, it is known that booklet-based learning media can help improve students' understanding of the material and learning motivation which ultimately has a positive impact on the quality of history learning in schools.
