Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding a flat mirror reflector to a 100 WP monocrystalline solar panel in its utilization as an energy source in a water lifting system by a 12 volt DC water pump engine with a power of 180 watts. This research was conducted for 14 consecutive days to collect data in the form of panel voltage and also DC water pump discharge by paying attention to weather conditions and sunlight intensity to see the comparison between panels that use flat mirror reflectors and without using flat mirror reflectors. The panel specifications used in this study are 100 WP monocrystalline type solar panels and DC water pumps with the brand “STEC” model HNWQB with a capacity of 12 volts with a power of 180 watts, with max. Flow 1.5 m3 / h and max. Head 15 m. The results of this study indicate that the addition of a flat mirror reflector to the utilization of 100 WP monocrystalline solar cells as an energy source for a 120 volt, 180 watt DC water pump can increase the output voltage generated by the panel and maximize the water lifting system by the DC water pump. Under the same conditions of time, weather conditions and solar intensity, panels with additional mirror reflectors produce greater voltage and greater water discharge as well. For example, on day 10, the panel without a mirror reflector produces maximum voltage and maximum water discharge at 12:00 WIB, namely a maximum voltage of 21.2 volts and a maximum pump discharge of 35.72 liters/minute. While at the same time on solar panels with additional flat mirror reflectors are able to produce a maximum voltage of 21.8 volts and a maximum pump discharge of 35.73 Liters/minute.
