Abstract

Maternal and Child Health (MCH) is a top priority in efforts to achieve sustainable health development. Indonesia has relatively high maternal and infant mortality rates, so the government needs to take measures to reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR). This study aims to analyze the optimization of maternal and child health financing in South Sumatra in 2023 based on the achievement of MCH performance indicators. The study uses a descriptive qualitative research design with two data sources: primary data from in-depth interviews and secondary data from document reviews of the South Sumatra Provincial Health Office, with data validity ensured through triangulation. The results indicate that in terms of input, human resources are competent and adequate, funding is sufficient and supports operational activities, and facilities and infrastructure are good and adequate. The process, which includes planning, calculation, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, has been well executed. Regarding output, the performance indicator achievements show budget realization for antenatal care at 91.46% and deliveries at health facilities at 79.95%, with physical realization at 100%. It can be concluded that adequate financing helps consistently promote maternal and child health and minimizes funding-related obstacles. The recommendation is that monitoring and evaluation should be conducted more frequently to improve services and assist in reducing MMR and IMR.
