Abstract

This study aims to determine the nutritional quality of pakchong grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Thailand) given gibberellic acid with different doses. This research was conducted from October to December 2024 in the Experimental Cage of Animal Husbandry Study Program and sample analysis at the Animal Nutrition and Food Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a complete randomized design (CRD) method consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replicates, namely G0 (control), G1 (200 ppm), G2 (400 ppm), G3 (600 ppm), G4 (800 ppm). Parameters observed in the study included dry matter, ash content, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber and BETN. The results showed that the application of various doses of gibberellic acid had a significant effect on dry matter, crude protein, and crude fiber, but had no significant effect on ash content, crude fat and BETN. In this study, it can be concluded that the use of gibberellic acid can increase the levels of dry matter and crude fiber, but has not been able to increase the levels of ash, crude protein, crude fat, and BETN. The optimal dose that gave the best results was treatment G1 (200 ppm).
