Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy on the academic procrastination of Economics Education Students of Sriwijaya University. This study uses an associative type quantitative research method with causal relationships. The population in this study is 255 students of Economics Education at Sriwijaya University for the 2021-2023 batch. Sampling uses the proportionate stratified random sampling method, which is a technique used when the population has members or elements that are not homogeneous and proportionally stratified, so that the sample size is 156 students. The data collection techniques used in this study were questionnaires and interviews. The validity test of the questionnaire instrument used the Pearson product moment formula and the reliability test used the alpha cronbach formula. The data analysis techniques of this study are descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests and hypothesis tests. The results showed that there was a negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination obtained from the calculation of the correlation test of -0.166 which was categorized as very low and from the calculation of the t-test obtained ,t-calculus. = −2.0889 ≥ ,t-table. = 1.97549 until Ha is accepted and Ho is subtracted. It can be concluded that there is an influence of self-efficacy on the academic procrastination of Economics Education students of Sriwijaya University. Based on the calculation of the determinant coefficient, self-efficacy contributed 2.75% while the remaining 97.25% was influenced by other variables that were not studied in this study. For the next researcher, it can narrow the scope of the questionnaire statement so that respondents are more focused on answering existing statements. In addition, it can consider adding other variables that have the potential to affect academic procrastination behavior so that broader research results are obtained.
