Abstract

The increasing number of patients with disabilities, brain injuries, strokes, and chronic illnesses in Indonesia, particularly in Palembang, highlights the urgent need for an integrated medical rehabilitation facility. There is a growing demand for hospitals that address not only medical treatment but also support physical and psychological healing. This design aims to create a rehabilitation hospital with effective circulation, high accessibility, and a patient-centered approach that considers the emotional, social, and physical needs of patients. The core concept adopts patient-centered architecture by integrating therapeutic spaces with natural elements such as healing gardens, natural lighting, and communal areas. The site is zoned clearly into public, medical, service, and logistics areas, with separated circulation systems. The facility consists of a main hospital for clinical services and inpatient units, as well as a wellness center equipped with hydrotherapy pools, a gymnasium, and support spaces. The structure utilizes reinforced concrete with pile foundations. Utility systems apply smart hospital principles, including a multisplit VRV air-conditioning system, integrated fire protection, clean and waste water piping, and PLN-supplied electricity distributed to panels on each floor. The overall design creates a healing environment that is both comfortable and efficient for patients and medical staff.
