Abstract
The land to be used to construct a road construction must meet existing standards. For that, it is necessary to test the characteristics of soil on Jalan Soekarno Hatta in Palembang, considering the many bumpy roads and also perforated. Tests conducted are water content, specific gravity, consistency limits, sieve analysis, consolidation and strong free press. The results of the study obtained the soil type of very soft clay based on the classification of USCS 4 soil samples is OH and 2 soil samples are OL. Based on AASHTO that the land was entered into a general classification of clay with A classification of group A-6. The results of the testing of the nature physics soil moisture value obtained every sample is almost the same, but 2 samples that have the largest water content value in the STA 4 + 050 depth 2 m obtained 142.637% and the STA 6 + 300 depth of 2 m obtained 119.74%. Specific Gravity testing ranged from 2.00 to 2.59. At the test (LL) obtained the highest value at the STA 1 + 800 at a depth of 2 m of 73.80%, (PL) obtained the highest value in the STA 6 + 300 at a depth of 2 m, 48.27% and (IP) obtained the high value of the STA 1 + 800 at a depth of 2 m of 29.25%. Mechanical properties of the soil obtained consolidation test result is the highest Cv value at STA 6 + 300 at a depth of 2 m, namely 0.0104 cm2/sec. While the highest Cc value at STA 1 + 800 at a depth of 2 m is 0.434. In the test of the strong free press obtained the highest value Qu at STA 6 + 300 at a depth of 4 m is 14.400 kN/m2, the highest CU value obtained at STA 6 + 300 at a depth of 4 m is 7.200 kN/m2. CBR testing using DCP tool obtained CBR 6.91% value.
