Abstract

This study investigates the influence of financial literacy, financial behavior, and risk perception on the use of digital payment services, specifically Paylater. The findings reveal that financial literacy has a positive and significant impact on Paylater usage, contradicting the initial hypothesis that higher literacy would lead to more cautious financial decisions. Individuals with strong financial literacy appear more inclined to use Paylater services, possibly due to greater confidence in managing associated risks. Furthermore, poor financial behavior is correlated with excessive use of Paylater, emphasizing the importance of effective personal financial management. While risk perception does not significantly moderate the relationship between financial literacy and Paylater usage, it serves as a predictor in the relationship between financial behavior and Paylater adoption. These results underline the need to strengthen financial education, particularly among younger generations, and support the development of regulatory frameworks to ensure responsible digital financial service usage. Increasing awareness of the potential risks and fostering healthy financial habits are essential to reducing the likelihood of consumptive debt.
