Abstract

The Effect of Addition of Local Microorganism Activators from Banana Stem on Dry Matter, Organic Matter and Ash Content Of Termite Bento Grass Silage (Supervised by Riswandi) Swamplands have the potential to be a source of green fodder for livestock, various types of greens that grow in swamps. One example of greens is bento grass (Leersia hexandra). Bento Grass is also one of the grasses that is suitable for giving to livestock because it has good nutritional content. One of the efficient feed processing technologies during the change of the dry season is silage. Silage is the process of preserving fresh green fodder in anaerobic conditions by forming or adding acid which is stored in an airtight silo. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of banana stem mole activator on bento grass silage (Leersia hexandra) on dry matter, organic matter and ash content. The study was conducted in September 2024 at the Animal Nutrition and Feed Laboratory, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Department of Animal Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications with P0: Termite bento grass without treatment (control), P1: Termite bento grass + 3% MOL banana stump, P2: Termite bento grass + 6% MOL banana stump, P3: Termite bento grass + 9% MOL banana stump. The variables observed consisted of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM) and ash levels. The data obtained will be analyzed using analysis of variance. If the treatment has a significant effect, it will be further tested with the Duncan test. The results of this study indicate that the treatment has no significant effect (P>0.05) on the levels of DM, OM and Ash, with dry matter levels ranging from 51.77 - 56.10%, on organic matter ranging from 49.47 - 53.50% and ash levels ranging from 4.39 - 4.89%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the addition of banana stem MOL to bento grass silage can maintain the content of dry matter, organic matter and ash. The results obtained from the study showed that the average obtained showed a stable figure for each content. Keywords: Bento Grass, Local Microorganism of Banana Stems, Silage, Swamp Forage
