Abstract

One of the characteristics of digestion in ruminants is the presence of microbial activity and fermentation processes in the rumen. The rumen is one of the digestive organs that has a major influence on the productivity of ruminants which has a diverse bacterial community consisting of bacteria, protozoa, and fungi. that Pakchong grass is a hybrid type of grass from Elephant Grass (Pennisetum glaucum) The potential of Pakchong Grass is very potential to be developed to effect the problem of forage availability. The purpose of this study was to study the production of total Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA) N-ammonia and pH of beef cattle to determine the extent of giving the ratio of Pakchong Grass (Pennisetum purpureum) and different Calfeed concentrates in vitro. The research was conducted from October to November 2024 in the laboratory of animal nutrition and fodder, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Department of Animal Husbandry Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a complete randomized design (CRD) method with 3 treatments and 5 replicates.
