Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of green finance and financial inclusion on the profitability of banks in Indonesia, with financial technology as a moderating variable. The research was conducted on 30 commercial banks during the period 2018–2023 using secondary data obtained from annual and sustainability reports. Profitability is measured by Return on Assets (ROA), green finance is proxied by the Green Banking Disclosure Index (GBDI), financial inclusion is measured through the dimensions of accessibility and usage of banking services, while financial technology is measured by the volume of digital banking transactions. Panel data regression using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was employed based on the results of the Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests. The findings show that green finance has a positive but insignificant effect on profitability. Accessibility has a positive and significant impact, while usage of banking services shows a negative but insignificant effect. Financial technology does not moderate the effects of green finance and service usage on profitability, and it weakens the relationship between accessibility and profitability. Simultaneously, all independent variables and their interactions significantly affect profitability. These results suggest that the digitalization of financial services has not yet fully optimized the impact of sustainability and financial inclusion on banking performance. Keywords: green finance, financial inclusion, profitability, financial technology, banking sector, ROA.
