Abstract
This study aims to analyze a potential of nutgrass tubers crude extract as anesthetics material and determine optimal concentration of its for catfish. This research was conducted onseptember 2018 at the Laboratorium Kolam Percobaan, Program Studi Budidaya Perairan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya, Indralaya.This study consisted of three stages.First, knowing both upper and lower limits concentration that can kill fish for toxicity test. Second, calculating potential concentration for anesthetic and the last was testing catfish with those concentrations in order to determine optimal doses of nutgrass tubers extract for catfish anesthesia. The data observed including mortality rate, response of fish behaviors, time of anesthasia and recovery.The result revealed that LC-50 1hour was about 4.80%. During the toxicity test, fish started fainting phase 100% on with average 25 minutes, with a concentration of 4.55%. Key word : catfish, fish anesthasia, nutgrass tubers
