Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that characterized by impaired social communication skills and repetitive and restrictive patterns of behavior and interests with unusual sensory responses. The prevalence of ASD risk factors varies greatly around the world and varies in each country and even city, so it is necessary to conduct research in Palembang city. This study aims to identify genetic and environmental risk factors found in ASD children. Type of this research is observational descriptive with cross sectional data collection. The sampling technique uses total sampling, with samples for this research are medical record data and the results of semi-structured interviews with families of ASD inpatients and outpatients at the RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2014 - 2018. The results showed that ASD children who had risk factors were 78 (80.41%), with the following distribution: advanced paternal age (59.8%), advanced maternal age (40.2%), and cesarean delivery (27, 8%), LBW (15.5%). The conclusion of this study is there are genetic factors that is family history in ASD children in RSMH and there are environmental risk factors such as paternal age, maternal age, prenatal infection, gestational bleeding, hypertension during pregnancy, cesarean delivery, premature delivery, asphyxia, LBW, jaundice, and postnatal infection in ASD children in RSMH.
