Abstract

The leaves of matoa are plants that have a flavonoids content that is as an antibacterial against the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria (Gram-positive) and Escherichia coli (Gram-negative). This study aims to see the influence of ethyl acetate fraction of the antibacterial properties contained therein. The concentration used is from 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. Testing is also done with negative controls without being given treatment. As for the positive control used tetracycline that works with broad spectrum. Test antibacterial activity is done using the diffusion method of disc paper. Replication is done 3 times for each test sample. The results showed that 100% concentration had a minimum barrier diameter of 8.06 mm against the Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The concentration of ethyl acetate of the matoa leaf is 75% and 100% is not obtained at all in the medium of live bacteria in the media (0 CFU/ml). Based on the research that has been conducted, the ethyl acetate fraction of the leaf matoa concentration of 75% and 100% has the ability to kill the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli.
