Abstract

Latar belakang: Konsumsi minuman beralkohol tidak memandang batas usia dan tidak menutup kemungkinan orang yang kehilangan gigi dan menggunakan gigi tiruan juga mengonsumsi alkohol. Sifat menyerap cairan oleh bahan basis gigi tiruan resin akrilik polimer dapat meningkatkan kekasaran permukaan bahan. Penyerapan larutan organik seperti etanol dalam minuman beralkohol dapat meningkatkan dampak tersebut. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh minuman beralkohol terhadap kekasaran permukaan bahan basis gigi tiruan resin akrilik polimerisasi panas. Metode: Sampel berupa lempeng (n=24) dibuat dari resin akrilik polimerisasi panas dengan ukuran 25x25x5 mm. Sampel dibagi menjadi empat kelompok dan kekasaran permukaan sebelum perendaman telah diukur. Sampel pada tiap kelompok direndam selama 10 menit dalam larutan (akuades sebagai kontrol, bir, wine, dan whiskey sebagai perlakuan), kemudian perendaman dilanjutkan dengan saliva buatan selama 23 jam, setelah itu kembali direndam larutan selama 50 menit untuk memenuhi periode 24 jam. Prosedur ini dilakukan selama tujuh hari dan kemudian pengukuran kekasaran permukaan dilakukan kembali. Data yang didapat akan diuji secara statistik menggunakan SPSS, uji Kruskal-Walis. Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada nilai rerata kekasaran permukaan bahan basis gigi tiruan sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan perendaman (p<0,05). Whiskey merupakan jenis minuman beralkohol yang paling mempengaruhi kekasaran permukaan bahan basis gigi tiruan dalam penelitian ini. Kesimpulan: Minuman beralkohol dapat meningkatkan kekasaran permukaan bahan basis gigi tiruan resin akrilik polimerisasi panas.
