Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia (ADB) attacks more than 2 billion people in the world. ADB's prevalence is higher in pregnant women, compared to non-pregnant women. One reason is the behavior of mothers in consuming iron tablets. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the behavior of pregnant women in consuming iron tablets. This type of research is descriptive analytic with a cross sectional study design, with purposive sampling sampling, which is as many as 77 pregnant women. Data analysis techniques are univariate and bivariate which are presented in the form of tables and narratives. The results showed that 43 people (55.8%) respondents were "obedient" in consumption of iron tablets, and 34 people (44.2%) of other respondents were "not obedient. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between Knowledge (p = 0,000), Availability of Iron Tablets (p = 0,000) and Information (p = 0,019) and Family / Husband Support (p = 0,000) with Maternal Behavior in Consuming Iron tablets. It can be concluded that knowledge, availability of iron tablets and information as well as family / husband support are related to the behavior of mothers in consuming iron tablets.
