Abstract

Along with the development of the age of one phase induction motor has been widely used in industry and households because the induction motor has a simple construction, easy to operate and maintenance cost are relatively cheaper. Induction motors include alternating current that works based on magnetic induction of the stator to the stator, where this motor current is not obtained from certain sources, but it is an induced current as a result of the relative difference between the rotor rotation and the rotary field produced by the stator current. But the exact problem in an induction motor is when the motor is activated directly the motor will draw a very large current and can cause the motor to break quickly. In addition, it can also cause waste of electricity due to the use of an induction motor. Therefore, the Soft Starter method is needed to reduce the surge of current by reducing the input voltage of the induction motor at the beginning of the starting. The input voltage of the induction motor is regulated by giving a delay signal to the triac by providing a delay set on the Arduino microcontroller. The results of the design of the soft starter circuit that has been made are able to reduce the voltage at the start and gradually increase based on the variation of delay given starting from 9ms until 0ms. The voltage generated is starting from 96,36 Volt until 220 Volt. The electric power used at the start is also more economical than without using a soft starter which is the difference in appeal 4526 watt.
