Abstract

This research is about the survival strategy of motorized rickshaw drivers in front of the Sriwijaya University Indralaya campus, South Sumatra. This study aims determine the economic life of motorized rickshaw drivers after the existence of online campus motorcycle taxis, and to find out the survival strategies of motorized pedicab drivers. The theory used in this research is Suharto ‘theory of survival strategies, in which he explains that survival strategies are Classified into three categories namely active, passive and network strategies. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data source used is primary data and secondary data. The technique of determining the informants in this research was purposive with 10 informants. The results in this study are about the economic life of motorized pedicab drivers and the survival strategies of motorized pedicab drivers in front of the Sriwijaya University Indralaya Campus. Why is the life strategy of motorbike rickshaw drivers being questioned because a variety of online campus motorcycle taxis have emerged with various online taxis appearing making students switch to online campus ojek. This reduces the income of motorized rickshaw drivers, So thre is a need for motorized rickshaw driver. The strategies applied by motorized pedicab drivers are active strategy, passive strategy and network strategy. Keywords: Survival Strategi, Motor Rickshaw driver
