Abstract

Dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) can convert solar energy into electrical energy using dyes. Dye is a pigment made from natural (organic) or synthetic ingredients. Synthetic dyes are generally not environmentally friendly. One of an alternative is to use organic dyes from color pigments in plants such as anthocyanins, chlorophylls, and beta-carotene. Anthocyanin is a plant pigment which has red, orange, purple, and blue colors and can be used for dye production on the DSSC. anthocyanin pigments used in this study are flower bungur flower, teratai, water hyacinth and senduduk fruit. The objective of the research was fabricating and testing the performance of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) using anthocyanin dyes with a variety of extraction solvents and pH of dye solutions. The research was conducted at Agricultural Product Chemical Laboratory, Energy and Electrification Laboratory, Agricultural Technology Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, October 2019 to October 2020. This research used descriptive method with several stages including: 1) Preparation of the DSSC structure, 2) Compiling and assembling the DSSC, 3) Testing the DSSC. The observed parameters were characteristics of organic dyes, current and voltage, power, fill factor and efficiency of solar cells. DSSC A2P with dye senduduk fruit with methanol solvent and pH reduction treatment has the best performance with a Voc value of 440 mV, Isc of 0.0587 mA, and FF value of 0.19072, and an efficiency value of 2.94803%.
