Abstract

Backgrounds. In early 2020 a new SARS-CoV-2 virus appeared and the name of the disease was COVID-19 which originated in Wuhan, China. This case has spread across the world and has been declared a pandemic. The number of cases and deaths in Indonesia continues to increase and Palembang City is still the highest case in South Sumatra. To reduce the spread of COVID-19, the government is currently implementing Adaptation to New Habits that are rooted in the previous PSBB policy. This study aims to know public perception of the implementation of Adaptation to New Habits in preventing the transmission of COVID-19 in Palembang City. Methods. This research is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional study design. The research sample was the people of Palembang City who were reached by distributing questionnaires via google form and fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling technique is accidental sampling with a total sample of 467 respondents. Data were taken from online questionnaires via google form which were distributed via social media in December 2020 and processed using SPSS. Results. The characteristics of the respondents in this study were mostly aged 18-25 years (76.9%), were female (67.9%), had a higher education level (80.5%), and were students (72.6%). The results of this study indicate that the majority of people have a good perception (81.2%) of the implementation of Adaptation to New Habits in preventing the transmission of COVID-19 in Palembang City. The majority of good perceptions are in the age group 18-25 years (59.7%), female gender (54.4%), higher education level (65.7%), and students (56.7%). Conclusions. In general, public has a good perception of the implementation of Adaptation to New Habits in preventing the transmission of COVID-19 in Palembang City. It is hoped that the government can continue to optimize existing policies and increase education to the public about COVID-19 and the importance of health protocols.
