Abstract
This study discusses charging accumulators using PLTB Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine. This study uses a generator with a permanent magnet synchronous type on a wind turbine and a dry accumulator with a capacity of 12 Volt DC 5 AH. The permanent magnet synchronous type generator has the advantage that it can rotate at low speeds and the accumulator used functions as a storage medium for the electrical energy generated by the generator. Testing the performance of the generator is very necessary to see how optimal the wind turbine is during the accumulator charging process. This study uses varying wind speeds, namely 4 m/s, 5 m/s and 6 m/s and the load is a 6 volt and 12 volt DC motor dynamo. The result of the test is that the total charging time of the accumulator is the longest when using a wind speed of 4 m/s with a 12 volt DC motor dynamo load, which is 223 minutes. Meanwhile, the fastest accumulator charging time is when using a wind speed of 6 m/s with a 6 volt DC motor dynamo load, which is 163 minutes. The minimum generator output power value obtained is 0.991 watts when charging the accumulator using a wind speed of 4 m/s with a load of 6 volts. Meanwhile, the maximum generator output power value is 1.552 watts when charging the accumulator using a wind speed of 6 m/s with a load of 12 volts.
