Abstract

This research is entitled "Development of Educational Institutions under the auspices of Az-Zahrah Islamic Education Foundation 1990-2010". This research is entitled "Development of Educational Institutions under the auspices of Az-Zahrah Islamic Education Foundation 1990-2010". The formulation of the problem in this study is how the development of the education management system in the Islamic educational institution of Az-Zahrah Palembang in 1990-2010 and how the development in the implementation of education in the Islamic educational institution of Az-Zahrah Palembang in 1990-2010. The purpose of this study was to determine the development of educational institutions under the auspices of the Az-Zahrah Islamic Education Foundation in 1990-2010. The method used in this study is a historical research method that includes heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography, data is collected through observation, interviews, documentation and literature studies. The results showed that Az-Zahrah Islamic Education Foundation was formed on the basis of the thoughts of Mrs. Hj. Siti Nurani Bambang Utoyo, that formed an arisan group with the aim of maintaining friendship and discussing the progress of Palembang city, who then agreed to form Sriwijaya Jakarta Citizens Association and establish an Islamic school in Palembang legally, so that on July 12, 1990 Az-Zahrah Islamic Foundation was officially established. Az-Zahrah Foundation then developed to this day. Az-Zahrah Islamic Education Foundation has handled five institutions, they are Az-Zahrah Islamic Kindergarten, Az-Zahrah Islamic Elementary School, Az-Zahrah Islamic Junior High School 1, Az-Zahrah Islamic Middle School 2 and Az-Zahrah Islamic High School. Then the five institutions developed very well with good education management and a very regular implementation of education, it made Az-Zahrah Educational Institution attractive to Palembang people. This is proven by academic and non-academic achievements. Based on these results, it can be concluded that Az-Zahrah Islamic Education Foundation is an agency that handles educational institutions by contributing to the intellectual life of the nation. The development of Az-Zahrah Islamic Education Foundation and its five institutions have experienced growth both in terms of quality and quantity.
