Abstract
Population growth that continues to increase is one of the main factors in increasing waste production. Prabumulih City is a city that experiences an increase in population every year so that the waste problem is also a problem faced by Prabumulih City. Good waste management must be considered to reduce the related problems caused by waste. To create a good municipal solid waste management process, the important thing that must be considered is the process of transporting the waste, including the selection of the right route. This research was conducted to find the optimal route of waste transportation in Prabumulih City using the saving matrix method. The specialty of the saving matrix method is this method pays attention to the number of vehicle capacities and the volume of products to be distributed. The research was conducted by looking for distance savings between one point of garbage collection to another, then the route was sorted using the nearest neighbor method on condition it did not exceed the capacity of the garbage truck. From the calculation results, the total savings from all vehicle routes is 60.78 km per day, and from the distance results obtained are also found fuel cost savings Rp. 57.741 per day or Rp. 1,732,230 for each month.
