Abstract

The application of Information Technology (IT) is currently a technology that is widely used by almost all organizations (government, industrial sector, private sector and education). IT is believed to be able to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization's business processes in achieving its goals. Muhammadiyah University of Palembang (UMP) is one of the private universities that has implemented and utilized Information Technology, namely the Academic Information System or SIMAKAD in its operational process. SIMAKAD at Muhammadiyah University of Palembang has been used for approximately three years. In that three years, there has never been a performance or operational evaluation of the Academic Information System used and the people involved in it. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and determine the level of capability of the Academic Information System (SIMAKAD) and the people involved in it using the COBIT 5 framework in the MEA Domain. The results that become the focus of the audit include the MEA01, MEA01 and MEA03 processes. From the three processes assessed, overall the results obtained for the current capability level (as is) of 3.0 and the expected level of capability (to be) of 4.0. Because there is no process that is able to reach the expected level, the recommendation for improvement is to increase 1 level from the current level (as is) in order to reach the expected level (to be).
