Abstract
Steel is a metal alloy where its use is almost used in all kinds of existing equipment such as construction machinery, buildings, household appliances and others. One way to slow down the speed is coating with a paint coating. This study aims to determine the resistance of each type of coating to corrosion rates on low carbon steel ST37 in the form of strip plates. This research was conducted by testing specimens in HCL solution for 15 days. From the results of the research, coating using an epoxy type of base paint and then re-coating with a special iron main paint has a damage percentage of 5, 70%, for coating using a special iron base paint and recoating with a special iron main paint has a damage percentage of 5, 95%, coating using a special iron main paint without first applying primer has a damage percentage of 5, 44% and specimens without treatment have a damage percentage of 11, 49%.
