Abstract

This research aimed to find out the influence of local government spending in the construction and transportation sector on cities in South Sumatra. This research used quantitative methods. The data used includes government spending on construction and transportation sector on economic growth in cities in South Sumatra. The data obtained directly from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of South Sumatra Province for the period 2010-2020. The method used was the panel data regression analysis method with the Common Effect model approach using EViews 9. The results showed that there was no significant influence between the distribution of the construction sector (X1) on economic growth (Y) due to the value of t calculated < t table. There was a significant negative influence between variables (X2) and (Y), due to the value of t calculated > t table. Thus, it was concluded that government expenditure in the construction sector had no effect on economic growth in cities in South Sumatra Province. In addition, government spending in the transportation sector negatively affected economic growth in cities in South Sumatra Province.
