Abstract
Musical note is a symbol or a sign to indicate the high-low sound that showed in the image. Musical note has a shape and a position that is almost the same so that there is often a problem in reading the notes. In this study, a software developed that can recognize the notes using Self Organizing Maps method. The input of this software is the image of the musical notes and its output is information about the notes example the name of the note and the sound of notes. The image entered will pass through several stages of image processing example image conversion to grayscale, edge detection, binarization and segmentation. Then the feature of input image will be captured using Zernike Moment Invariant which will then be trained using Self Organizing Maps. The results of the study that the software is able to recognize the image of the musical note with an accuracy of 80.55% of 180 images of a single note and 85% of the image more than one note.
