Abstract

One of the reasons for the high number of COVID-19 cases is the community's non-compliance in implementing health protocols. Based on the results of a survey of 15 visitors to one of the cafes and a preliminary study of 20 students, 90% of them did not follow the health protocol. Thus, it is deemed necessary to conduct health education on health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 starting from the school level. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education on COVID-19 using leaflets and demonstrations on compliance with health protocols for students of SMK PGRI 1 Prabumulih. The design of this study was pre-experimental with a pre-test post-test design, with one group design. The sample in this study amounted to 20 respondents who were taken using a probability sampling technique, namely cluster sampling. Interventions that can be given are health education using leaflet media and demonstrations on how to wear masks and 6 steps to wash hands properly. Collecting data using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results of the bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test were obtained (p = 0.000), which indicates that there is an effect of health education about COVID-19 using leaflets and demonstrations on student compliance in carrying out health protocols. Students' disobedience in carrying out health protocols is due to a lack of information about COVID-19 and also how to wash hands with soap correctly. The importance of being given health education about COVID-19 and demonstration of 6 steps on how to wash hands with soap correctly from health workers so that they can break the chain of spread of COVID-19.
