Abstract

Teenager is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood which will experience continued growth also development and puberty marked by the presence of menarche (first menstruation) in teenager. Lately, the age of menarche gradually changes and tends to be obtained more quickly. This change along with the factors that influence it also significant changes, including nutritional status (BMI and percent body fat). This study was conducted to determine the difference of the age of menarche based on the nutritional status of teenager at SMP Negeri 6 Unggul Sekayu, Musi Banyuasin Regency in 2021. Research used a cross sectional design with quantitative research method. The research sample was taken by purposive sampling technique and obtained 95 of SMP Negeri 6 Unggul Sekayu’s teenager. The analysis of study consisted of univariate and bivariate analysis with kruskal wallis test. The results of study indicate that the majority of teenager at SMP Negeri 6 Unggul Sekayu have normal menarche age, normal nutritional status (BMI), healthy nutritional status (percent body fat). The results of data analysis showed that there was a difference average age of menarche based on nutritional status (BMI) in teenager of SMP Negeri 6 Unggul Sekayu (p-value=0.001) and there was a difference average age of menarche based on nutritional status (percent body fat) in teenager of SMP Negeri 6 Unggul Sekayu (p-value=0.001). From the results of study, it concluded that there was a difference average age of menarche based on nutritional status (BMI and percent body fat)in SMP Negeri 6 Unggul Sekayu’s teenagers. It is necessary to increase the students acknowledge about monitoring nutritional status periodically because the condition of nutritional status will give a big impact for the future.
