Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of students to determine the main idea in a paragraph in class V SD Negeri 1 Lingkis. This research is a research that uses a descriptive method with a quantitative research approach. The population in this study were all fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Lingkis. In this study, there were 23 students who were taken using multiple choice questions that have been validated by experts. The results of the research on the ability of students to determine the main idea in the paragraph were in the very good category with an average score of 85.2. Of the 23 fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Lingkis, there are 14 students (61%) who are very good, 7 students (30%) are capable in the good category and 2 students (9%) are in the moderate category. Overall, the ability of the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Lingkis in determining the main idea in the paragraph is in the very good category. Keywords : Abilities, Main Ideas, Paragraphs.
