Abstract
This research is entitled "The Effectiveness of Using WhatsApp Group Applications in Online Learning (Study on Guardians of Grade 3 Elementary School 40 Palembang)". Social media as a tool or means used to convey messages from communicators to communicants or audiences who take advantage of technological developments. The purpose of this study is to find out how effective the use of the WhatsApp group application is in online learning. This research uses media wealth theory according to Richard L. Draft and Robert H Lengel (1986). The method applied is a quantitative method with descriptive analysis techniques. This research was conducted with a sample of 54 respondents. Collecting data in this study using the technique of distributing questionnaires, observation, and documentation. Based on data analysis conducted on 54 respondents who answered 16 questionnaire statements which were described from the four dimensions used, three dimensions can be concluded to be in the quite effective category and one dimension is in the effective category. Thus it can be concluded that WhatsApp social media in online learning can be said to be in the Effective category. Keywords: Effective, Effectiveness, WhatsApp, Online
