Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the performance of Arab layer chicken (Brakel kriel-silver) on starter period by adding of methionine on basal diets. This research was conducted for two months (June to July 2005) at Balai Pembibitan Ternak Unggul Sapi Dwiguna dan Ayam, Sembawa Km 29 Kab. Banyu Asin. Sixty day old of chicks was used in this research. A complete random design was used with five treatments and four replications. Each replicated consists of three chickens. The parameter observed were feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion. The result showed that the adding of methionine on basal diets were not significantly different on feed consumption, body weight gain and feedconversion.
