Abstract

This study aims to examine the social aspect through the sociology of literature contained in the collection of short shorts by Sapardi Djoko Damono, as well as the implications for learning literature, especially short story learning in high school class XI. This research is qualitative research, the method used is a descriptive method, and the sociology of literature is used as an analysis of short stories. The source of the research data was obtained through a collection of short stories, Sepasang Sepatu Tua by Sapardi Djoko Damono, with eight titles. The eight titles are; 1) Sepasang Sepatu Tua; 2) Rumah-rumah; 3) Seorang Rekan di Kampus Menyarankan Aku Mengusut Apa Sebab Orang Memilih Gila; 4) Membunuh Orang Gila; 5)Ketika Gerimis Jatuh; 6) Daun di Atas Pagar; 7) Membimbing Anak Buta; dan 8) Suatu Hari di Bulan Desember. The results of the study are 54 quotations from social aspects, from the following three social aspects, sociocultural aspects include, four quotes for belief/religion, four political quotes, three symbol quotes, three norms quotes, four moral quotes and four life views. The sociocultural aspect that does not appear is the element of art. Furthermore, the social aspects of the social environment include, four social class citations, seven profession citations, two population citations, and two criminality citations. The social aspect of the social environment that does not appear is the element of prostitution. Finally, the socioeconomic aspects include, three production and distribution quotations, three consumption quotations, three income quotations, two poverty quotations and three lifestyle quotations. The implications of research on literary learning are in KD 3.9 and KD 4.9 in the first semester of class XI so that research is expected to be a means of developing Indonesian language learning in schools.
