Abstract

Backgorund. Family planning (KB) program is aimed to slow the population growth. One of the ways of KB is using contraception. The growth of population in Palembang has been increasing while the KB users decrease. Based on the data of BKKBN Sumsel, the active KB users in Sumsel decreased from 74,79% to 69,08% in 2008. The research was aimed to know the prevalence of using KB pill and to identity whethere there is correlation between age, number of children, level of education, and correspondent ’s job and the use of KB pill, and to know which factor is the mosi dominani among the four. Method. A cross sectional study has been done in Siti Khadijah Islamic Hospital Palembang on November 2011. The number of sample was 101 females (between 20-45 age) visiting Poliklinik and KIA Siti Khadijah Islamic Hospital Palembang. The data were analyzed using univariate analysis, the frequency distribution of respondents, bivariate analysis, the Chi-square test, and multivariate analysis, binary logistic regression. Result. The prevalence of using KB pill was 34,7%. From bivariate analysis of all variables, it was found out that there was no correlation between all variables and the use of KB pill: age (p=0,378), number of children (p=0,741), job (p=0,545), and level of education (p=0,243). From the factor anlysis, job was the rnost prospective factor that influences of using KB pill. Conclusion. The prevalence of using KB pill was 34,6%. The factor of age, number of children, level of education, and job do out significantly have correlation. The rnost prospective factor that influences the use ofKB pill was job.
