Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of corporate governance on the company's financial performance. This study uses managerial ownership, institutional ownership and the size of the independent board of commissioners as dimensions of corporate governance and Tobins'Q as a measure of financial performance. The population used in this study is the mining sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2016-2020. Based on the purposive sampling method, a total sample of 175 of the 35 companies sampled in the study was obtained. The results showed that managerial ownership and institutional ownership had no significant effect on financial performance, while the size of the independent board of commissioners had a significant negative effect on financial performance. Future researchers are expected to add other dimensions outside of this study to measure the effect of corporate governance on financial performance which can better explain the overall effect
