Abstract

The objectives of this study are to fmd out the aspects of the production and reproduction of Pampangan buffalos in Desa Rambutan and Desa Pulau Layang Propinsi Sumatera Selatan. This study was done in Desa Rambutan Kecamatan Rambutan Kabupaten Banyuasin and Desa Pulau Layang Kecamatan Pampangan Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ilir on May until August 2013. The method of this study was survey method. The sample of this study was taken by using purposive sampling method, a method which purposively takes the AGUNG INDRA PUTRA, sample with some considerations that exist. The data of this study consist of primary data (the bust measurement and the milk production) and secondary data (calving interval, first age of liter, and age of the calf). The parameters that observed in this study are the daily weight gain of the livestock, milk production, calving interval, first age of liter, and age of the calf. The data was analyzed descriptively and was interpreted to find out the more comprehensive purpose. The results of the study showed that the mean of the milk production of the Pampangan buffaio was in Desa Rambutan 0,86 ± 0,23 L.ekor^.hr'1 and in Desa Pulau Layang was 0,66 ± 0,08 L.ekor ,.hr"1. The increasing of the weight of Pampangan buffaio in Desa Rambutan was 0,59 ± 0,20 kg.ekor',.hr',for male buffalos, 0,65 ± 0,08 kg.ekor 1 .hr 1 for female buffalos and in Desa Pulau Layang was 0,39 ± 0,17 kg.ekor^.hr'‘for male buffalos, 0,36 ± 0,11 kg.ekor^.hr*1 for female buffalos. Furthermore, the reproduction characteristics Pampangan Buffalo in Desa Rambutan were 3,9 ± 0,22 years for first age of litter, 1,5 ± 0 years for calving interval, 11,2 ± 1,09 months for the age of the calf and in Desa Pulau Layang were 4,7 ± 0,27 years for first age of litter, 1,8 ± 0,27 years for calving interval, 10 ± 1,87 months for the age of the calf.
