Abstract

This study aims to determine the presentation of self the winner of Duta Generasi Berencana (GenRe) South Sumatera 2018 by using the dramaturgy approach that is front stage and back stage. This study uses the theory of Dramaturgy according to Erving Goffman which has seven dimensions. Among them is Belief, The Front, Dramatic Realization, Idealization, Maintance and Expressive Control, Misrepresentation, and Mystification. The research method used is a qualitative research method by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation obtained from the object under study. this study also uses descriptive analysis techniques with collected reliable information that has been obtained from the results of interviews with informants in detail and know the research problem clearly. The results of this study indicate that there is difference the presentation of self the winner of Duta GenRe South Sumatera 2018 between front stage and back stage. On the front stage, he did camouflage while carrying out his role as Duta GenRe. Back stage of Duta GenRe showing his different side of himself and do some preparations to support his appearance on the front stage.
