Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari karakteristik hasil destilasi dari hidrocracking minyak jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) dengan zeolit aktif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Balai Riset dan Standarisasi Industri Palembang pada bulan Oktober 2009 sampai Juli 2010. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap Faktorial yang tediri dari 2 perlakuan. Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 2 kali. Perlakuan tersebut adalah waktu hidrocracking (2, 3 dan 4 jam) dan berat zeolit aktif (25, 30, 35, dan 40 g) . Parameter yang diamati adalah kadar air, berat jenis, kadar residu karbon, angka asam, dan angka iodium. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa waktu hidrocracking berpengaruh nyata terhadap berat jenis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa waktu hidrocracking dan bobot zeolit aktif berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap kadar air, residu karbon, angka asam dan angka iodium.
